Responsibilities:
- Conduct classroom training sessions for teen drivers, providing instruction on proper driving techniques and safety practices.
- Actively engage a classroom of students as you teach a complete curriculum of foundational driver’s education knowledge.
- Evaluate students using interactive knowledge checkpoints and provide feedback and guidance on areas for improvement, while being patient and understanding of each student’s unique needs.
- Create a safe and inclusive environment for students from diverse backgrounds.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, administrative notes, and other work-related tasks.
- Communicate regularly with students, parents or guardians, and administrative staff.

Location and Hours:
- Classroom driving instruction is offered year-round.
- During the summer months (June – Aug), classroom driving instruction is available on a part-time or full-time basis.
- Throughout the school year (Sept – May), only part-time hours are available for classroom driving instruction. Full-time hours during the school year require combining classroom driving instruction with behind-the-wheel driving instruction.
- Our classes consist of ten days of instruction, one three-hour lesson a day for ten days, providing students with a comprehensive 30-hour learning experience. In-person classes have a maximum capacity of 30 students.
- During the summer months (June – Aug) classes are scheduled from Monday to Friday.
- Throughout the school year (Sept – May), classes are scheduled from Monday to Thursday.
- During the summer months (June – Aug), classes are offered at the following time slots:
- 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM, 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM.
- Throughout the school year (Sept – May), classes are offered at one specific 3.5 hour time slot.
- Exact class schedule calendars are available for viewing during the interview process.
Requirements:
- Must be at least 21 years old and have held a valid U.S. driver’s license for at least 3 years.
- Must have a clean driving record with no major violations.
- Must provide proof of a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be able to complete and pass a BCA and FBI background check.
- Must be patient and understanding of each student’s unique needs, while also being able to maintain a positive and safe learning environment.
- Previous experience as a driving instructor is not required. We welcome candidates with strong communication and interpersonal skills, and a passion for teaching and working with teens.
Licensing:
- For this role you will need to pass state licensing exams and obtain a Minnesota Driving Instructor License.
- We’ll help you prepare for the exams and cover all licensing fees.
