Safeway Driving School has provided quality driver’s education in Minnesota for over 50 years. As the largest driving school in Minnesota, we provide classroom and behind-the-wheel lessons for teens at locations throughout the Minneapolis and St. Paul metro area. Our goal is to educate our students to become safe and skillful drivers. The teens you teach will be the people we all share the roads with, and your impact on them keeps our communities and streets a safer place.
One of the strongest features of Safeway’s teen program is our quality behind-the-wheel instruction. As a Driving Instructor, you will be in the car with students, teaching and guiding them as they gain real-world experience. Our lessons follow a designated curriculum, which includes rural, city, and highway driving, as well as parking and road test preparation.
Safeway provides both paid training and instructor licensing with the State of Minnesota. Get your instructor license with the help of our study tools and trained staff. We provide training in professional development, teaching techniques, and defensive driving. Great job for school bus drivers, truck drivers, people who are tired of driving for Uber or Lyft, coaches, mentors, teachers, and anyone who wants to make an impact in a student’s life!
A day in the Life of a Driving Instructor:
As a Driving Instructor, you will be a self-starter, with no micro-management or being confined to an office. Your day will start by you checking your Safeway iPad and verifying your schedule. You will get into your assigned Safeway vehicle that is kept at your home, and you will input the address of your student into your Safeway GPS and pick the student up for their behind-the-wheel lesson. With the student driving, you will guide them through a designated route to teach them core skills. You may have 3-4 lessons in a day. You end your day back at your own home and log your hours into your iPad.
